Visitors could not only rediscover the traditional technique of embroidery in small groups, but also tried out innovations and the latest trends. Our expert instructors of course were at your side to offer advice and support.

Special highlight this year: the Finnish designer and “Queen of Crochet”, Molla Mills, presented crochet designs in an “ice cream” pattern! She showed how to use thread to create a modern style of crochet work, as detailed in her latest book, Virkkuri4.

Workshop programme 2018

This handy travel companion holds all the important things you’ll need for your next trip. Sewn from oilcloth and washable paper/cork, it’s robust and resistant to soiling. In this workshop you will deal with various materials, bias binding and an endless zipper. If there’s enough time, you’ll have an opportunity to create a bias binding.

Small geometrical works of art are created from cardboard rings embroidered with thread. By repeating embroidery sequences consisting of satin stitches you can develop colourful patterns. In this workshop we will focus on learning the stitch.

In this workshop we will make a small pouch with an ice-cream crochet pattern. This delicious pattern is from Molla's new book Virkkuri4. The stitches we use are simple chains and double crochet, but we also learn how to make a three-colour tapestry work.

You’re working with a megacool material: chalkboard fabric! This is a cotton fabric that is coated with a chalkboard surface on one side and can be very easily cut to size, stamped, perforated and, most importantly, sewn. In this workshop we will create a beautiful wall organizer together.

Tapestry crochet is a crocheting technique that combines several colours for a beautiful jacquard effect. It enables you to weave with one thread while one (or several) additional threads tag along. These threads are alternated in order to obtain the desired pattern in the desired colours.

Oh no……..the sleeve! What should you do if you’ve changed the details of an armhole and don’t know how to adjust the sleeve to fit it? What should you do if your upper-arm circumference doesn’t match the dimensions of the pattern? In this course you will learn how to adapt sleeves to any armhole and how to alter a design.

In this workshop you’ll learn the basic principles of textile design. At the “Around the world” event, you can give your creativity free rein.
